People who put lots of people on block and ruin threads

Nobody talks about the ET trolls spending a lot of time creating numerous useless threads and spreading lies and disinformation on the ET boards. They are blocked by a lot of people because they deserve to be blocked.

Is there a way to Block everyone, then unblock a select few - "The Chosen Ones"?

You could do that manually, but it would take a LOT of time and clicking of checkboxes. But it would ALSO cause your threads to look like gibberish in conversational flow.

I have just one person on block.

I can see this person's threads.

I'm sure previously i was unable to see the threads of anyone i blocked?

Is this a new bug or has it always been this way.

I don't want to see the threads of people i block, i also don't want people who have me blocked posting on my threads either.

Logging out to browse the threads you are interested in works.
No need to log out and sign back in. If you're on Chrome or its variant browsers like Edge or Brave, just right-click on any hyperlink (eg. time stamp below a post) and press G. This will open the link in Incognito mode. I think this might also work for Firefox, but not sure.

There should be limit to how many people you can 'block', if you need to block more than 5 people (or 10 max) the problem is probably you.

The 'ignore' feature should have no limit. You should be able to ignore as many people as you want, just as you can at the moment.

The 'block' function does ruin the site for other people.

When I create a thread and someone who has me blocked replies to it. And someone else replies back to that blocked reply, and now and my own thread no longer makes sense to me.

The main culprit seems to be user 'maxinger' who it appears has many people on block but can still reply to threads started by people he has blocked.

Another thread starter also noticed this, see this post.

https://www.elitetrader.com/et/threads/anyone-else-self-sabotage.379309/page-3#post-5959232

I noticed the exact same thing, he was replying to my threads as well, but has me blocked, he did not reply to my posts directly, but to other people on my thread, and i could see their replies back to him, but not his posts.

There is no problem with blocking. I mean if I really don't want anything to do with some idiot(s), I should have a way to completely insulate myself from it(them) in that I don't want to see their garbage and I don't want them to see what I have written and the "block" function achieves that purpose just fine. The problem with blocking is people abuse it. They use block as a weapon to prevent the other person from seeing their posts and then unblock them just long enough for them to write a nasty reply back to the person they blocked and then go back to blocking them again. That I think is something that should be addressed and rectified.

If somebody puts someone else on block, that person shouldn't be allowed to unblock that same person and reply back to the person that he/she just blocked. From a logical point of view, if you don't want anything to do with a person to the point that you don't even want the other person to know what you are saying, then why are you still interested in finding out about the other person was saying and even want to take the time and effort to reply back to that person? It does not make sense.

So the way I see it as a possible solution to this is that if you block somebody, then after you unblock that person, there should be a timer introduced like a day or 2 days or 5 days or whatever before you are allowed to reply back to the person that you previously blocked and now unblocked. You wouldn't be allowed to reply to a post of your former "blockee" right away. And the same thing, after you have finished replying back to that person who was your former "blockee", there will again be a timer introduced over 1 day to several days before you can re-block that person again so the person who was your former "blockee" would have a chance to see your replies and reply back if they want to. So in this way, it won't eliminate the abuse but it would at least mitigate it.

Bottom line: If you block somebody then treat that person as if he/she/it has never existed otherwise if you choose to unblock them and engage them again then you have to deal with the consequences.

It appears a person who has you on block can now post on your threads without even going through the hassle of taking you off block.

Not reply to you directly on your thread, but reply to others who replied on your thread.

Im not sure if that was always the case, but it seems to be the case now.

I no longer create serious Trading threads on this site for that reason, i just shit post in politics now.

Why would i take time to create a thread if i cant even read all the messages on my own thread anymore? Not to mention having to see nonsensical posts on my own thread (from people who replied to the person who has blocked me)

The block feature has been hacked onto the site and implemented in a very poor way.

The problem is that there are so many rude and
obnoxious people on this forum and they are not
regulated. When I first came on here somebody
called me a slxt because I am a woman, no other
reason, and I don't remember whether I reported
it or not, but that user should have been banned
for being unprofessional.

Using the term slxt is beyond unprofessional, however you cant expect professional replies with your username.

GoldDigger is appropriate for somebody that
is a daytrader and makes money with stocks
on a daily basis.

The user name was not an excuse for anyone
to call me disgusting names.

And BTW, it's no wonder so many people have
you on BLOCK.

GROW UP!
