Pentagon wants $99.7B more for wars

Quote from runningman:

When my condo assoc wanted to build a new parking lot they assessed everyone $500. No ands, ifs or buts about it. That's what they should do with the war. Immediately assess every man woman and child $333.00 This would give us close to the $100 Bill to keep the war going. The problem with the war is that besides the soldiers and their families, everyone else has escaped any hardship or suffering. Its time to make this a whole country effort and getting everyone to pony up is the way to do this.

You'll get a civil war in no time. :)

this is good for the economy given that most of the money will be spent on U.S contractors & U.S soldiers that will spend their earnings on U.S goods when the war ends. I would have to say this one of the largest transfers of wealth from U.S tax payer to U.S shareholder.

why don't you go over there and do something?

The whole point is NO ONE should be going over there and doing anything. If you start telling the 'merkan people they actually have to sacrifice something, they will call for an end to the war immediately. So we can all save our money.

throw it on the pile. we arent going to ever repay it anyway. whats another 100 bill among friends?

actually - lets round it up to an even trillion - who cares ? just jack the printing press up a little higher. we are in it for 60 trillion or so as the up and coming generation of americans. go bush! go united states peso

Quote from dandxg:

I knew it was bullshit when they said the war was going to be, what did they tell us, $200 billion. That f-ing war is going to bankrupt the US!
"On a rough recollection, the oil revenues of that country could bring between $50bn and $100bn over the course of the next two or three years," he said. "We're dealing with a country that can really finance its own reconstruction, and relatively soon."

- Paul Wolfowitz, House of Representatives Hearing, March 27, 2003.

"When it comes to reconstruction, before we turn to the American taxpayer, we will turn first to the resources of the Iraqi government and the international community."

- Donald Rumsfeld, Senate Hearing, March 27, 2003

That would never work.

You think people can afford $333 when health care and education costs are skyrocketing. Come on.......

pony up nothing.

Here's the big problem- we ARE paying it whether we write a check or pay in a devalued currency. You're right we can't afford it, but these idiots keep spending it. It being OUR money.
