As I said above, the Capitol Police is under the jurisdiction of Pelosi.
So if you want to review why the Capitol Police and Pelosi did not have a plan or they had one that was not followed, you could go that route. Probably you do not. No political mileage in it for you, which is your primary criteria for being motivated on any topic.
Has the Capitol Police worked out a safety plan and worked with all congressional members and families, given all the hullabaloo about how endangered they are how they need more protection? If not, that needs to be known.
Also I hear, that there was video surveillance of the residence per an existing plan by the capitol police/feds but that no one was monitoring it. So Pelosi "was fine" simply because she was not there. Might be some work and review that needs to be done there, eh? Because next time, she might be there.
As outlined already -- the Capitol Police only monitor the video when Nancy Pelosi is in the home. The Capitol Police are only responsible for protecting Congressional members, not their families. If Congress wants to change the purview of the Capitol Police to protecting all the family members of representatives then they can vote to budget money to do this and greatly expand the number of Capitol Police officers to increase the protection coverage.
But I should note the Republicans have been against expanding the Capitol Police or increasing their budget ever since January 6, 2021. You really should contact these Republicans if you are concerned about the current safety plan and protocols for Congressional representatives which does not cover other family members.
So there are all these cries to ensure the safety of public officials and their families, yet the Capitol Police have implemented no plans.
No alarms, no security alerts, etc.
You assume everything costs a lot of money or requires the hiring and placements of security guards. In fact, some of Pelosi's neighbors have even commented that the Pelosi's did not even have the security measures that most households in the neighborhood have.
You guys want it both ways. You want the country to get all bent out of shape over an attack on a family member but don't want to hold the family or the Capitol Police to any standards that could accomplish that.
A member who is second in line to be President, should have a solid safety plan for themselves and their family and the Capitol Police should be overseeing that.
Of course, as I said, there is no political mileage in that for you, as here is in blaming the attack on Republicans so you don't care.
Actually I don't believe the Capitol Police should be covering all the family members of Congressional representatives -- so there is no type of "political mileage" in this for me by making assertions along these lines. Nor do I see the media or Democrats trying to make claims along these lines.
However the harsh reality of the media coverage of this situation is that it is driven by the false claims being put forward by Republicans. If these Republicans did not push these false claims in media interviews, on-stage campaigning, and in social media then there would be no need to debunk the nonsense they are pushing. Facts matter --- and we should not accept complete fabrications involving political violence in our discourse to be considered acceptable.
You are approaching it in a binary manner - ie. The family either has active monitoring or protection or they get nothing. Wrong way to look at.
All members and families should have access to training, and consultants who can advise and recommend home security measures and the public has an interest in seeing that this is available to representatives. Not many dollars involved in that.
You crabwalk away from it because you want it all be on the republicans but if a spouse is killed next week, you will be all cranked up if you can make a conservative connection.
The Pelosi household should have several key protective measures in place, including basic alarms, a safe room on each floor which might consist of extra secure door on a bedroom with push button alarm to a third party, a firearm if the person is competent, rules and training about giving access to strangers or and not going on the search alone to investigate suspicious activity, etc. etc.
The policy is quite straight-forward. Capitol Police protection applies to Congressional representatives only, not their family members.
You can contact your Congressional representative's office if you want clarification on this. The protection does not cover "family members getting access to training, and consultants who can advise and recommend home security measures" for family members (only for representatives). Your concept that "the public has an interest in seeing that this is available to representatives" is absurd -- this will only help extremists in their plans to attack representatives by knowing how they are protected. The general public for the most part can care less.
Are we going to start spending 50 billion plus dollars per year to protect Congressional members and their extended families. Are the taxpayers going to fund the costs for safe rooms, alarms systems, secure doors, push button, cameras, etc. in every home owned by the representatives (many own several). Are we going to spend money for security measures at their spouse's workplaces and their children's college dormitories? Just how much tax-payer money to you pour into this congressional family protection racket?

Does the capitol police provide a website that has videos on it for members and their family to go to and receive some training on security. Oh, I see. 50 billion dolar cost there. We are all going to go bankrupt.
