Went back in about 45 min to close and picked up another 13 cents on 500 shares in VLO. Net profit about $53...So total for today was

6k shares traded
+$733 gross profit
- $ 60 commissions
- $ 15 SEC fees (approx)

$ 658 NET for today.
 
Decided not to trade opening orders today...might have been a mistake, but I can always do them next month or the month after.

My charts were a little out of wack with VLO because of the stock split but I bought it anyway, But since something didnt look right i decided to re-check with bigcharts.com (even though its 20 min delayed.) I realized right away i shouldve shorted it instead..even with the 20 min delay it was obvious. So i took the loss before it got too big.

I was short LEH today and was in the red for a while...saw a great statistical arbitrage play with GS so I bought it...turned out to be a good move and its the reason I actually made any money today instead of ending up close to Net flat.

I said I was going to stop with VLO but I decided to give it a try again...not as volitile but still seems to run the same way.

IBM was my loser for today. Shorted 500 shares at 83.27 ( i was too anxious to get in. It dropped to .22 but then went up to .40 I shorted 200 more shares at .42 It got down to .31 and i figured I would buy back 200 shares since i was even at that point. bid/ask was 31/32 My bid stayed there for almost 5 minutes...didnt want to get billed so i canceled. Hit the ask for .33 and took the 12 dollar loss.

My profit goal this morning was $300 dollars net (60 cents)...hit that mark pretty fast so I upped it to $500. Missed that mark net, but hit it gross :) Im happy.

Except for IBM I stayed trading 500 share lots. Only traded more in IBM because there was less volitility than my other stocks.
 
hmm...I dont know why my fee chart says i get charged specialist fees for shorting...I just checked this morning and I didnt get charged any. An extra 37 bucks to start off the day. :)

Read my chart wrong in COP today which is why i lost money...stayed in it all day trying to make it back, but if anyone else tried to trade COP today you know why I didnt make it back. Freakin' stock was flat 4 1/2 hours right up to close....Check the charts and tell me if you ever seen an oil stock trade that flat before. Might as well have tried to make my money back in LU. Traded 500 share lots except in MO which i traded a 1000 share lot. At one point i was hold 900 shares in COP too. Anyway....

I really cut short my profits on GS today...I knew it had to gain at least a buck today but I settled for 49 cents :( As of this writing the stock went up another dollar from where i sold it :(

MO also gave me some trouble...i broke my rules on it today and It couldve really hurt me. I bought it at 76.29 it went down to around 75.90 and bought more shares. I was in for 1500 shares...that was supposed to be a no-no for me until i get my account back up. I banned myself from taking positions larger than 1000 shares MAX, preferably staying in the 500 share range or between 40k to 70k worth of stock. Well the stock went back up and as you see i sold for a profit, but the risk/reward was way too high for that one. Had I not doubled up I probably wouldve taken about a 50 dollar loss in it. Worked this time but this is how I got bit in the ass before.

Also cut my profits short in VLO and LEH. But not by too much only like 20 cents.

SLB was the last thing I traded today..bottom fell out from under me and i didnt want to sell at a loss. I doubled up..then at the very bottom bought another 500 shares so i was long 1500 shares at one point. Stock went back up...was up about 420 in it for the day when i got out...then i decided to short it because i thought it would go down...went 50 cents against me and I shorted another 500 shares to be short 1000...made a little back but shouldve quit after i was up 420 in it.

Got E-signal today!! Boy does that help...using redi combined with the delayed bigcharts.com (to get 3 MAs on one chart) was getting to be hard work. Only worked 1 hour today, jumped into LEH a little early and spent a whooping 30 minutes trying to figure out if i made a mistake...(i did but it wasnt too big, and it came back)

MO was so low because i tried to short 1000 shares...got filled for 25 shares...stock started going down so i put a SSH market order in for the rest...it wouldnt get filled and kept going down...then just said forget it and bought back 25 shares...picked up 9 cents on it.

Wow...not one second after i clicked "submit" power went out...good thing i quit early today because i only have cordless phones in the house and they dont work when the power goes out. Power was out for 30 minutes...Couldve lost alot of money if i was still trading(or made alot) :) Im going to start posting my weekly net profits from now on too.

Bad day today. I went against my system and on top of that in 2 of the stocks I traded today instead of trading 500 shares I went up to 1500....lets see if you can guess which 2 I went up to 1500 in.
