mav,i know that. what was not explained was how an individual without a license becomes a member of an exchange.that is the question.

also,does being a member(individual) enable him to get 20-1 with 5k or is the 25k a different issue?

Because the "license requirement" is set by the EXCHANGE. If I owned an exchange called The Mav Exchange (TME), I get to determine what is required for joining my exchange. The SEC can't tell a private organization what the requirements are. I might require you to fill out a U-4, get fingerprinted, and pay a fee possibly. That's it. That's my call. So no one is "not getting away" with anything. The license is not an SEC requirement....PERIOD.

The 25k requirement is for "retail" traders. Not professionals.
 
so i have to be registered to the nasdaq,nys,and american stock exchange? how do i do that?
of course the firm i trade with has to be registered by all three?
i am concerned with equities./

You register through your member firm. They will tell you what's required.
 
f--king a prostitute is illegal.......but f--king a call girl is not.........the law is mostly all about semantics......and tuco lost the semantics game..........well at least one good thing that comes out of this is that all these shady sub llcs stop spamming monster and craigslist with "job" offers.

Maverick anyone can register with the NYS-NAZ-AME? we just have to make sure our firm is registered with them?
as far as you know,its only some paperwork that the trader fills out.....

Well, not anyone. They do a criminal background check. You get fingerprinted. Fill out a U-4, etc. All the exchanges have their own requirements, you need to check with each one.
