this has truly been a masterful job of epic and historical proportions.
the final stroke had to be when the Administration, in all it's glory, took the stage front and center, and proceeded to yell, FIRE! in the crowded theater.
thats version one.
version two may go something like this...
we are a debtor nation, like it or not. Our way of life requires, is dependant upon, and as we have just seen, (and will likely continue to see) cannot (and will not) function properly except for 'the knidness of others'. In short, regardless of this piece of legislation, we have structural flaws that continue to go unaddressed.
The Administration, (I will give them the benefit of the doubt here) was likely duly (and truly) scared shitless. Over the course of time, if direct measures are taken to correct some of our deficiencies...energy independence, reinvigorating our manufacturing base, we can begin to make some ground on our 'creditworthiness'. Reliance upon the GOP for leadership in the above is futile, and will end badly, as we have just seen, (but hey, what else could be expected from a president 'that stole' the office, (with a little help form his friends at the SC)).
Ironic, and fitting, that the brightest light at the end of the tunnel, is a black man.
If you ask me, waht is and has just occured is long overdue, and a miracle in its own right that it has taken so long. One way or another, this nation is going to have to 'roll up our sleeves', best to do it of our own volition, (if you can say that being brought to the mat and going forward is our own volition).
Hopefully, we get some breathing room, and time, to address some issues, and get 'our house in order'.
If not, we we just witnessed will amount to 'the shot across the bow'.
