Partitioning a large account to limit operational risk

Then your stuck waiting for funds to settle from trades to begin another. Don’t leverage up and it’s the same as cash account.

I am now reaching the unfortunate conclusion that margined accounts are simply too risky to my taste. I may have to roll back to cash only....

If you do not want to use leverage, see if they can reduce your leverage to 1X. If you do not want to short stocks, have them turn off shorting. No reason to change to cash if your account exceeds $25,000.

OK IB neither offers the possibility of blocking short selling in a margin account according to help desk.

or even a precautionary setting, giving you a warning when short selling.

The only option is to opt for a cash account - borrowing for long only is not possible.

Or use another broker that has risk tool settings.
