I'll clarify why I am asking.

I'm buying a new plotter and selling my old one to an engineering firm in the next city south of here. The old plotter has a parallel interface while new plotters have ethernet interface. I just don't want this plotter to end up 40 miles from here and then discover a connectivity problem.

How far South is that engineering company that buys old shit? What are they working on? Maybe 8 track tape players.

Gee, let's see here. In the above paragraph which you quoted it says they're 40 miles south of here. So I'd say they're somewhere around 39-41 miles from here.

What does an engineering firm work on? (again stated in the paragraph you quoted) It's not 8 track tapes; I'll leave that one for you. You seem real bright!
