Paper trading now at IB.

Quote from late apex:

Bert, thanks for the reply to my question. Nope, don't see it there. Under "Trading Access" menu, all I get are these 3 options, same as always:

Market Data Subscriptions
Professional Status
Alert Notification

Would someone from IB comment on the availability of Papertrader to everyone (in the US)?

Is this paper trade function only for existing live account? I can not find the link to paper trade in the "Trading Access". Only 2 entries there:

Trading Permissions
Market Data Subscriptions

I know it can be frustrating as you'd love to see the paper trader but please give it a chance to roll out. Note the comments below from the communique.

The beta version of the IB Papertrader, currently only available for US customers trading US products, is being rolled out. It will be fully functional on December 12, 2005. We are looking for feedback on the beta version of IB Papertrader, and encourage you to send an email to ibmarketXXX@XXXteractivebrokers.com with your suggestions.

Thanks, def. OK, so, it is #2 from my original 3 theories. I can certainly wait another week. Look forward to what should be a great feature.

This is a great option. Ameritrade had a similar one 3 years ago, but after a year or so they took it down, because most people (just like with real money) actually lost money. Now if you are a broker you might don't want your costumers to realize that trading is not for everyone.

Because of this, I wonder how long this new feature will last?People with common sense don't try real money trading if they weren't successful with paper money first....

Will we receive daily statements like our real money accounts?

To Pekelo:
IB never targeted people that lose money. We are most satisfied with customers who are with us for many years because they are the best money generators. This new feature will stay.

Def, Will the paper trading's commissions be deducted from our real accounts?
If you want them to charge you real commission on imaginary trading, I am sure something can be arranged :)
