South African platinum mines had production problems after energy shortages there, that put the squeeze on platinum and palladium has some substitution effects for similar uses, so it's up too. And commodities in general are up big today, even laggard gold was up a lot.

This is one crazy ride, unfortunately I missed palladium and platinum but pretty much every commodity is roaring right now.
 
I too am surprised - got out of pt (proxy SWC for a nice 40% pop, thank you very little) and still long pd but scratched on PAL proxy for that - should have held on but have been burned b4 on that one and expected to be burned again.

I doubt this is sustainable. This gets high enough, surprise reserves will be mobilized and the price will be crushed again. Demand side on these two are very weak for non PM purposes. However, I don't have a good handle on this and don't feel as confident in this area as some other calls.

Big question is:
#1) SWC calls?
#2) When to short PAL?
#3) What the heck to do with the physical?
 
I'm out of Palladium positions @ $525 - I was targeting $550 but the volatility for past 2 days has been extreme, I cant take the heat. So I hand over the bag and run with my bagful. Thank You.

Time to pay attention to my Copper trade - mm something brewing there - :D :D :D :D
