Pabst Article On Yahoo Finance

Quote from traderNik:

Very good point. Some people might intentionally dumb down their writing in order to avoid sounding snotty. I'm sure my writing comes off as pretty snotty sometimes.

In this case, Pabst ain't fakin' it. As he told us, he has an IQ of 141 (Weschler). Therefore, he's one of those extremely rare individuals - a near-genius whose language skills are below 12th grade level.

In the end, though, I have no problem with Pabst stepping up to take a turn at the trough. I've always said that when a credulous newb pays someone to tell them when to enter, the losses he suffers are a part of the learning process. I have no problem with people who identify sheep and proceed to fleece them.

In my experience many people with very high I.Qs have trouble expressing themselves. Especially as their claimed I Q gets very high.

(this has nothing to do with Pabst... as I think some of his non racial put downs are genius.)

Quote from Pa(b)st Prime:

as an aside: You and oktiri are two out of only 4 or so people in the P&R forum who I usually disagree with politically but who I share commonality with on certain policy issues.

Likewise.
Although I intensely disagree with your message (and the manner in which it is delivered) at times, I must grudgingly offer the genuine compliment "you think more than most".

I also have a pretty good handle on your doctrine: "Provocation As Intellectual Stimulation".

So you're a published writer. I plead guilty to jealousy. Some of your critics here seem to be very creative writers themselves and have picked your work apart quite thoroughly. Those kind of people intimidate me, but I still want to try my hand at writing someday anyway. Some famous dude who died a long time ago said that the unexamined life isn't worth living, and I've heard many interpretations of those words. By being a published author you have laid yourself open for examination, and by that dead dude's qualifications, your life is worth something.

how about pointing the grammer police finger at the editors and editrixes at yahoo. those highly educated souls perhaps could use some tdog wisdom....

give me a break! you guys are coming across as insanely jealous that mr. pabst is a skilled writer and is starting to be recoqnized as such, in the broad media sense. The said article was exactly what it was meant to be by design, but that's right over your head.

surf:D
Please refer you to my original post in this thread wherein I only made a passing reference to the grammar in Pabst's article. The remainder of my post was an assessment of content. As for my coming across as "insanely jealous," you are being rather disingenuous. You will recall that you sent me a PM on April 11 of this year asking me to write a column for the very same web site. You will also recall that I declined your kind offer. So, no, I'm not insanely jealous. Pabst may be many things, but a skilled writer is not one of them.

I think Madonna is a crappy vocalist. No range, little styling-the pop quality of her songs though is strong enough that almost any singer would have scored hits with her material.

My criticisms of Madonna cause her as much sleeplessness as your critique of moi......
