I don't get this Gonzo jealousy vibe. What's the big deal--- this site is becoming a real drag.

No Surf, please don't tell us you are leaving again. You got a few of those T-shirts already. :D

Surfer shirts? Remember those!? Been many years since those days. I haven't had such a reaction to anything I posted since the madoff auction

I'll sell it quickly on the bay for >$2000-- unless you have tried one, its hard to understand the appeal. It's not like those jewelry phones linked earlier. It's a solid piece of engineering. Not to mention the silent circle encryption and protector services group access. Also the concierge service is most excellent. But hey, if you don't understand, you don't understand.

silent circle is $10 a month.

psg is basically a phone tracker and contacts for VIP security and biz continuity management. The phone tracker is available on any smartphone. I know because my kids have S4s with phonesheriff. which honestly is superior to PSG's antiquated system.

Ive seen the PSG app built into the Vertu. It's essentially useless in the USA as we have the 911 service, but it may be of some value overseas.

The phone is an ancient 3g brick that sells for $500-$1000 per your spec.

Finally a decent conversation-- thank you. I agree, I have seen less and less fancy/expensive watches on the street. The fad seems to be close to ending its course. I have collected since 1990 and note what was considered very large in 1990 38 mm or so, now looks like a woman's watch, others have grown so large. When I get tired of one or another, I sell them on Ebay, and generally the buyers are from Moscow, Hong Kong, China, Middle East and the occasional Brooklyn Russian who no doubt resells to Moscow. I have rarely sell one to a US based buyer.

Beleive it or not, there is still a market for the Vertu phones---

I didn't sell any of mine. They will become my childrens'.
My first watch was in 2003 with my first real Wall Street bonus.
I won't buy another one.

I have heard from collectors that China is the bid for watches.
