You used the present tense in your Title. This is of course nonsense. Your Title should have read " Republicans Still Claiming Medicare Expansion will Cripple State Budgets in Defiance of Economic Studies." That article you posted has to do with ridiculous projections three years hence. All the studies I have seen indicate that the additional revenue from medicaid expansion will cover, or exceed, projected State outlays.
In the meantime Republican Governors continue their political malpractice, saddling their constituents with a tax bill for which that get nothing, and denying routine care to hundreds of thousands of their constituents in each State that failed to expand medicaid. At the same time they've thrown a monkey wrench into the formula used to determine who can qualify for insurance premium subsidies..-- quite intentionally I sure. Of course, these are mainly the backward Southern States, whose economies lag the the more forward looking States. Is it any wonder?
This is pure politics at the expense of millions. All of these irresponsible governors should be drawn and quartered.
There are many serious defects in O'Romneycare that can, and should be, criticized, and corrected! Expansion of medicaid, however, is not one of these defects. Its one of a few very good features. What you are doing here is championing political malpractice, and that is not something you should be lauded for.
