Look at IBM, TXN, even HD had a nice move. You gotta exercise patience. I think (unless you're strongly opposed for whatever reason) you might want to begin to look at some Nasdaq stuff. AMZN, YHOO, NVLS usually pretty decent. Maybe not as "pretty" getting there sometimes, though.

Breakouts? Scalping this guy on the upside after 11:30 was freaking suicide. I just held out for the short. It would have been nice to know that all you had to do was buy 1000 shares at the open and wait. The actual move was a bit hard to scalp.

For scalps, this specialist is very bad. High slippage and holds your orders, even 100 share lots. But the short down finally paid off and saved my day. Held out for over a point. Next time I'll try doing it with 5k shares

Guess it depends on one's style and stops, etc. Did you look at the 5 minute chart on the morning's upside? I had presumed that's where you had made your money. Of course, money's good whichever way it moves.....long as you were on the correct side!!

Nah I missed most of the upside, I jumped in here and there with only 100-200 shares (I had a bad set of hits in the morning so had to take it easy). PG is a rough stock if you never traded it before (I have not before today). Spreads, swings, bad fills all over the place. By the time I saw it, it was a bit late to be one of the early trenders. I just waited for the top and started shorting.
