* Government Investing in the Stock Market - American Enterprise Institute
www.aei.org/publication/government-investing-in-the-stock-market/

Feb 25, 1999 - While the president says that only a “small portion”—actually a little more than one-fifth—of each year's transfers to the trust fund will go to stocks, the sums are enormous. By 2014, according to the actuaries, the U.S. government will own $921 billion worth of shares of American corporations. To put this ...

* Why can't the U.S. Government invest taxpayer money in the stock ...
https://www.quora.com/Why-cant-the-U-S-Government-invest-taxpayer-money-in-th...

The Social Security actuaries calculate that, between 2001 and 2030, the government will own, on average, 3.7 percent of the total value of the shares on the stock market. ... Should the U.S. Government wish to invest in the stock market and certain companies then the government would have to establish a “Chinese Wall”.

* Does The Government Actually Manipulate The Stock Market ...
www.businessinsider.com/does-the-government-actually-manipulate-the-stock-market...

Feb 26, 2010 - It's like taking a machine gun to a medieval battle or sending the U.S. Army to Baghdad (not that anyone would ever do such a thing). The point is, you can slice through prices like a hot knife through butter, create a certain sentiment in the market that actually generates attention (liquidity) and then get out ...

* Is The Fed Buying Stocks? | Seeking Alpha
https://seekingalpha.com › Macro View › Market Outlook

Jan 11, 2015 - The recoveries from these declines are just as rapid, which does not characterize typical investor behavior. It appears as though there is an outside force, with motives consistent with those of the Federal Reserve, that is supporting market prices. The short-term benefits of manipulation that leads to wealth ...

* macroeconomics - Does the Federal Reserve buy and sell stocks ...
https://economics.stackexchange.com/.../does-the-federal-reserve-buy-and-sell-stocks

May 31, 2016 - No, the Fed is not allowed to buy stocks, they are allowed to buy government securities in open market operations in order to achieve the target rate for the federal funds rate. The guidelines for this are explained in the Section 14 of the Federal Reserve Act. You can find the Fed holdings in the Federal ...

* Central Banks Buying Stocks Have Rigged US Stock Market Beyond ...
https://www.zerohedge.com/.../central-banks-buying-stocks-have-rigged-us-stock-mar...

Jun 26, 2017 - To achieve that end, the government or its central bank does whatever it needs to in order to keep stocks up. We all know China's market became completely rigged. We are just now seeing in the mainstream media that the US stock market is also increasingly rigged by central banks buying stocks.

"Overnight massacre"

Overrated thread title and topic and just an average day in the market,...kind of like sex -- somewhat of a letdown. or not as magical as you would have thought, or planned on.

But then again, the best things are sometimes unplanned things. If you're expecting everything, then there would be no magic.
Serendipity, as it's called.

It pays to be calm, and open-minded, and patient and unassuming as a trader. -- Because the market afterall is part art, part science...specially the shorter, or day, time frame you're looking at.

Options are kind of expensive, you're paying a high premium for any direction...
but there is still money to be made, if you're an Ace of a Fighter Pilot trader.

This comment was actually (mis)heard in an open-all-hours Greek restaurant.

It was probably only really someone ordering an "overnight Moussaka".

Not sure I would call a 1000+ point decline an ordinary day in the market.

Oh and sex can be magical, it depends on who you do it with and how good you are

Feels like the decline is overplayed at this point. Price is snaking it's way up towards the 50 fib retrace.

Worst probable case scenario here I see is retesting the 23.6 at 2615-ish.

Well if this is the worse case scenario, time to back up the truck.
Not the worst case scenario, the worst probable case scenario :) worst case scenario NK launch a nuke and the US is obliterated along with the index.

Currently short with a target of 2665. After that I will start to add some longs depending on how to the market looks. If we have a good day Im expecting 2700 atleast.

Out of the shorts for a 80 point win, starting slowly to add some small longs.

No reason to even post entries here, as I know I'm among the greats.

I might cover +20 just because I need my beauty sleep.

Not sure how the master gets +80 , but hey, he might be trading in French Francs

PS no need to ever ask me what my position is, it will be 1 or 1.5 points from the last extreme, and always in the right direction.
