i am a terrible sleeper. would love to know what the symbols are on ib for some of the most widely traded markets:japan, china, australia etc..any advice would be greatly appreciated. futures, stocks, whatever is trading in the middle of the night.

Learn everything you can about the Japanese Yen (Asian Hours) and the EuroFx (London Hours).

They trade very well, have a comparable tick size to the ES and generate some very nice over night moves ... but like swordsman says, you'd better make sure you have plenty of good coffee and can stay away! :)
