Well, after a week of being in the ET penalty box (it was about 18 days, not just two weeks), I wandered back here in anon mode, just to keep abreast of the latest threads. Imagine my surprise when I see a user starting a whole thread about me, and then today after logging in I see I got a PM from another user asking if I am literally OK on the same day this thread was created. Geez, I didn't think I was that important. My piker trading certainly does not grant me any worth.

My thoughts on this thread and the whole thing in general...

A. I have been put in the penalty box once or twice before, usually about losing control with dropping F-Bombs in trading threads. Well, I learned my lesson on that one and don't do that anymore.

B. This is first time I have been put in the ETPB (ElitleTraderPenaltyBox) for video-related stuff, so I have learned my lesson there, too. It has always been my posting style (for 25+ years) to use audio/video aids to help compliment the point I am making or highlighting in a thread. I never thought it a big deal, because in my view, if you don't want to be annoyed by a vid, THEN DON'T CLICK THE VID! Just gloss over it. I dunno, maybe some people have video auto-play set to on in their browsers. I think some browsers have that setting, depending on O/S. But I thought it a clever way to get people to use their minds to try to figure out the connection, like a puzzle. I love puzzles. K, doesn't work for many. So OK OK, I get the point, Baron (By the way, I know which thread set you off, and apologies for that one.) So now best I can do is the workaround of burying the link into response text, so it is not in peoples' faces in a trading-related thread. If that is acceptable, @Baron ?

C. Funniest comment in the thread was dest going "F the Super Bowl, I'm gonna refresh this all day." Wry humor at it's zenith, man.

D. I see the war with dest and Dawn is still raging. Thought that if a script for the movie could be made, it could be titled "From Dest 'til Dawn".

E. Worst part of having a penalty for half a month is losing the cookie ability of being logged in, so now there are 35 pages of "new posts". LOL!

Anyways, good to be back.

And like the AF Conference game, I think tonight it will be Chiefs win by 3. Actual score is tough to ponder. 33-30? Just a guess, heh.

Yes, I noticed this in that thread. I have been on many users' ban/ignore lists, and have never encountered the issue you are describing. The site's ban/ignore function is working as intended, far as I can tell.

Also, Dawn, there is something you need to learn...Tolerance. I have seen folks on here talk about dest like he is a devil. The folks who say that have simply not been typing on internet forums like this for long, because believe me, dest is NOTHING compared to the shit that has been on IRC and BBS of the past.

This has nothing to do with backbone or whatever. I am not afraid of @destriero. I can go into verbal fights with him and I can tell you I will win but that's not what I want to do. I didn't come here to go into fights with people. I came here to socialize and learn about trading here and he is proving to be both a nuisance and a distraction. It's great that he has his knowledge about options but respect is earned not taken and definitely not forced. And respect is a 2-way street. You want people to respect him? He needs to learn to respect others too regardless how much he disagrees with their views and ideas. Everybody has a right to express their thoughts here without being harassed. This is why this is a public forum, not his private cult. And about tolerance, first of all, nobody on this forum is under any obligation to tolerate anybody here. We are all equal and everybody here is expected to exhibit a certain degree of maturity and respect for others and nobody is an exception. This is stated in the Terms and Rules of this site here https://www.elitetrader.com/et/help/terms that you as his friend, perhaps should suggest for him to read them and apply in his behaviour. So far I can tell you, he has broken pretty much every single one of these rules there and the fact that he's still allowed to be a member here and not banned permanently already shows a great degree of tolerance and restraint on our part and on the part of the moderators here. You compare him to the IRC and BBS of the past and think he's Mother Teresa but I can tell you he can go onto any public forum on the internet today with his behaviour and he will be banned in a week. If you don't believe me, just ask him to go to any of the forums out there with his behaviour and you see how long he will last there. Well, the old BBS's no longer exist, those were dial-up days. But IRC is still alive and kicking.

As for the lowest standard of behavior being used as a guide? I still believe in it because it was a baseline for human interaction online.

The fact that you think that that sort of behavior "does not belong here" is a kinda' "woke" mentality that people cannot take a bruising. It is why kids today have no backbone and do not stand up for themselves.
