Overnight Flash Crash...

Quote from lwlee:

Dude,
Non-event? It looks like the recent run-up we've been having is based somewhat on early fiscal cliff resolution. Now that the rug has been pulled, traders are gonna protect their gains, especially year end.

Do we retest the nightly lows? Be interesting to see tomorrow when real volume comes in.

Russell has been particularly strong lately, I'm hoping for a big dump. :D

I'm flat tonight. Just tellin ya what I think. Let's just watch and see. Good time for popcorn!

Hell it wouldn't surprise me if we were limit up and some point. It is op ex after all.

This wasn't a flash crash. Big volume. Traders dump 30k contracts on the ES AFTER HOURS (around 8:20pm). That's as much volume as the open.

Tmrw is gonna bad day for longs.

There's way too much time left before Europe open. I've seen this before. But I could be dead wrong. :)

you've seen a fiscal cliff before?

The dollar amount in the budget is relatively small I agree, but combine that with massive automatic tax increases, uncertainty over Obamacare impact, and the further political drama and this to me looks like a real turd

what's the most any one player might have?

I've seen it before as well in MANY equities stocks. Unless Obama/Boehner get together overnight and get it done, I don't see how we go back to even.

Look at the charts, they are starting to show that ugly curl downwards. Dow futures is at about -200 right now.

Institutional players could push around a lot. Regular retail traders couldn't do that size, even with $500 margin. :D

And what do you think the chances of a deal rumor are by the morning?

The market is evil. As per usual.
