Why would he debate in the primaries? He didn't need to.

That's like saying "Mike Tyson refused to box some weak undercard, but now he wants to challenge Evander Holyfield."

Yet all the Republican presidential candidates criticized Trump for not attending the primary debates. Trump is the first non-incumbent in the modern TV era to not attend the primary Presidential debates of his party.

Well whatever. He didn't have to, but either way that's ancient history now and it is totally inconsequential to the matter at hand here. He challenged Biden to a debate. And may I point out using YOU'RE argument, if Biden doesn't show up, he'll be the first President since Carter/Ford to not show up.
