OVAL OFFICE FIGHT: Trump, Schumer and Pelosi argue over border wall funding in front of cameras

This is my point:

Crossing the border is not the way "the large majority of persons now become undocumented," the Center for Migration Studies(CMS) said in a recent report. Two-thirds of those who joined the undocumented population did so by entering with a valid visa and then overstaying their period of admission, the center repored.

Overstays have exceeded those entering illegally every year since 2007, and there have been half a million more overstays than illegal entries since 2007.

So why spend $5 billion addressing the smaller part of the issue when you can spend $1 to $2 billion and not only improve infrastructure along the wall but beef up the Immigration departments to better keep tabs on people once they are here legally. the Wall is a red herring just for Trump to get people riled up and rabid and overlook the $5 billion dollar cost that does not solve the bigger problem. Why can't the GOP stand up and say that $5 billion is against the budget policies they are trying to implement and President had no right to promise something he had no control over giving (congress sets the budget). Also since the chant was Mexico will payfor it, it was a lie and why should I pay for it because many of you believed the bullshit.

Like I have said, $1.5 billion annually should be more than enough to deal with the larger problems while beefing up ingrastructure at the California, Arizona and Texas border crossing points.
One would think 1.5 billion would be sufficient but this is the government and we're talking about. I am not sure 1.5 would cover the cost of paper for all the reports and studies they would waste more time on. Let's just all be honest and admit neither of the establishment parties want to do much about illegal immigrants. It's too advantagous politically on the never ending campaign trail.

Environmental impact studies alone will cost that much. At least.
Gotta make sure there's not some endangered desert mouse or something. The wall might mess with their mating rituals.

I can picture/hear Cryin' Chuck Schumer now:
"What is happening to the 3-toed Arizona sand mouse is a national tragedy and must be stopped immediately".

Migration patterns of mid and big size fauna is actually a big concern
