I really don't like the strategy of having his cabinet ministers feign believing the Russia must be dealt with in order to be confirmed, either. Because if that isn't his real strategy, it's probably going to come back to haunt them all.
My reaction as well. The whole point of electing Trump was we despise these assholes in both parties, as well as the media. It smacks of our Supreme Court nominees claiming they don't have an opinion on hot button issues.
Of course, McCain and Rubio would love to have an excuse to block some of Trump's nominees, then start handwringing that Trump isn't capable of governing. It is tempting to say fuck them, let them vote against a nominee, but it probably isn't the right move this early.
This now seems less about policy and more like an MMA fight. Trump took a couple of shots this week, but he choked out Buzzfeed and he rocked CNN with a kick to the head. Now he needs to submit McCain and Rubio. A president needs senators of his own party to back him, but they don't have to do it out of love. Fear works too.
