Our Energy Mess

Welcome to hyperinflation.

Obama is achieving two goals:

1) Empty our savings accounts by devaluation of our currency

2) Reduce carbon emissions by increasing fuel prices

Barrack Obama wants gas to be $8-10 per gallon like Europe. That forces people into the cities where you put them on public transport. Its a liberal marxist-leftist view of the world.

Unchecked immigration tilted the electorate towards liberalism and here we are, screwed beyond all redemption.

Methanol is the only realistic alternative to petroleum.
China is way ahead of us, Beijing sets national standard for methanol as automotive fuel in 2008.

China has > 250 Methanol Plants US has 16.

Mobile has a patent on a Methanol to Gasoline refining process and a plant operating in Australia. The US navy is reforming methanol to jet fuel on its carriers.

China's fuel infrastructure provides M15, m85 and m100 while the US has essentially abandoned Methanol for vehicle fuel. Chinese motor fuel M85 cost 1/5 the US gasoline equivalent.

Instead we continue down the fossil fuel path.

On the flip side, I think a "shortage" would be worse than high prices, till then people are just going to bitch and nothing else.

People will bitch regardless of the situation. Bitching is one of life's constants.

How about natural gas? We have a lot of it. If you just ocnverted long haul trucks and municipal buses, it would make a dent.

Sure, you can use, NG, coal, sequestered CO2 or biomass to produce methanol. I'm just saying Methanol should be our primary energy carrier and storage medium.

Methanol can be used in DMFC's and H2 PEM fuel cells or synthesized to gasoline and jet fuel to supply existing demand & machinery. Methanol can be processed directly into plastics.

Existing engines require only approx $100 in modifications (fuel sensor, gaskets & o-rings) to burn M85 methanol blends in ICE engines. In June 2009 Methanol was only $0.60 a gallon.. presently it has doubled to $1.20 largely due to Chinese demand.

Traditionally Methanol Blended fuel: M85 has had a retail price < $1 per gallon.

Are you sure it's Chinese demand and not the FED? ; )
