You don't want to use stops....don't use vag stops. Seriously you guys argue over the dumbest shit.

That whole discussion about the bet is off-topic in this thread.
It should be done in an own thread.

I had the same reaction as you, till one day somebody told to "nobody": the E from ET is not from Elite but from Entertainment.
Since I see ET as entertainment it is much easier for me to stay and not run away. I see ET as a big joke and use it to kill time while I am waiting for the next signal to get in or out of a trade. Because that is the biggest problem for me in trading: most of the day waiting and doing nothing.


And sometimes I get distracted from all this waiting and miss the signal!!!!

Out of nearly 400,000 tested trades, stops hurt the performance of the system.

If you have to hit the car break hard your foot may hurt but you better do it. You are measuring the performance of the foot.

This has been my experience as well. Different instruments and many different stop methods, none have performed well enough to justify themselves - to ensure stops actually exit, you're sending market orders which are rarely a good idea. Sure, I can get slight incremental improvement either on profits or drawdown but for an idea to be truly useful, the difference has to be significant (and it's not).

Backtesting is bad now? As opposed to what, looking at the stars?
Backtesting is as close to a scientific method we can get in trading and for you to dismiss it in absolute terms tells us you share more with the flat earth society.

Whenever someone says "for us in the know", it tells me they actually have very limited knowledge.

If you have to backtest, then it is obvious you are looking for something you do not already know, which means you have no experience, which means you are going on a hunch.

You can not apply the same analysis to trading as you can to other areas of human behavior, and if you do not know why, then it is obvious you should not be trading.

As I said, you are all textbook traders, and really know nothing about how to take money from others.

There are only 2 other posters on this site that show they are in the know, and even 1 of them is still a good bit off, even though trading for years.

Making money is easy when you know how. If you want to learn a bit about it, go to Helsinki and take a certain bus route, but be very careful, as if you get off at the wrong stop, you will be lost forever, and end up like the majority, chasing your tail round in circles.
