OSTK ceo

Quote from thenewguy:

The CEO said in one of his interviews that this isn't about his company, this type of activity is a threat to entrepreneurship in the US today. Can you imagine spending the time and going through the struggle to create a company only to be wiped out by something that is illegal, and BLATANTLY obvious? That really is a threat to the US economy, in my opinion.

show me one REAL company that went under due to naked short and i`ll buy you lunch. :D

where do these idiots come from???

this idiot has worked within the cap mkts for 10 years. I never said naked shorting was ok....all I said was mkt will dictate real value. read the post after that then I will allow you to apologize to me for something you would never say face to face.

Quote from thenewguy:

I haven't checked this case in a week or two now, but the original concern wasn't about shorting. The dude is compaining about naked shorting, which is illegal. When he can account for %90 of the shares outstanding, and there are 6 million shares short on book, something like 4 million larger than the float, there is obviously something wrong. This is a game that has been going on for YEARS, and just like the wave of front runners being burned at the NYSE, and the CEO's using "special vehicles" to transfer risk off book being burned in companies like Enron et al, this will too come to an end eventually. The era of insiders on Wall Street dominating via unfair advantages is coming to an end.

it amazes me how slow the reg's are to reel this in. it really gives the impression of complicity on the part of govt and media.

I'm not going to take this bet simply cuz I assume by "REAL" you mean a company with good fundamentals and good performance. These schemes don't target companies like that, so no, there probably aren't any cases like that. However, if you think about it, if you're a large pool of money (billions) are you gonna target a "real" company, or one that is already weak, with a low float, and MUCH more prone to a scheme like this?

True. Thats why I believe OSTK management is only concerned with holding current levels and not really interested in letting the mkts do its thing.

the ostk ceo should shut up. ostk is being helped by the short base. without shorts this stock would be less than 20. it really is a crappy company.

Anybody that complains about short selling knows nothing about mkt mechanics. Try and tell this guy they are creating liquidity in his name and he will summon the force to fight your evil empire....

it is obvious you are bashing byrnes and saying he is stupid for not embracing the short sellers? am i missing something???

Hey, you win the prize for being the first to make me look up a word from ET! hahaha

Yeah, complicity, lethargy, bureaucracy, lack of comprehension... I'm not willing to say that the SEC is fully involved, but at times, it sure looks like some of the people are. The media is just plain obvious. If you read what people like Jeff Matthews are writing, and then what Byrne is saying there simply is absolutely no other conclusion. Heck, just the fact that Jeff spends so much of his time bashing Byrne and OSTK. I mean, why on earth would he want to do that? People in his business should spend their time looking for good investments, not trying to make them.
