It all DOES have something to do with the crap that's been flying. The only thing politicians listen to is money, and Bryne is a large contributor, and he's coming down hard on the powers that be. Left to their own devices, these people would have driven us right into a sink hole. As it is, the damage will be huge. I 've said it for three or ten years. Not all the firms survive this.

Very perceptive.

right after 9/11, some events came to light. I developed a relationship with an officer of a company, trying to help them get to where I was in, what is now very elementary. the company was being manipulated, they knew it, and had to get to point B quickly or be destroyed. I did not own any stock, I just wanted a bit of justice.

The guy was a very accomplished individual. Had been way up a /Fortune 500 company ladder. Now, was here getting this company off the ground (he thought). He eventually left after he arranged proper funding, because the death threats were too much.

I asked him, remember, this is late 01, "when you talk about this, as established as you are, do people think you're crazy? "

He laughed. "I just came from a meeting with several people from blah blah blah, and they just stared at me." This is a guy who told me he winced when he started his car. Oh yeah. I wonder how many wise guys on Elite would like a job where someone calls your home phone and says, "listen you!@#$%^&*, we know where your kids go to school, and if you keep doing what you're doing, ................"

That is why it is a perfect scheme. It is so outrageous, guys like Weiss, Cramer, Greenberg can use that "wacky" defense while they fleece the rest of us. And, regardless of what you think , you are being fleeced.
 
doesn't effect the lawsuits at all. the sec has sat on it's hands on so many other issues ~ are you really surprised?

it seems two reporter are very excited this morning. none other than Carol Remond and Roddy Boyd. that says alot.

just remember ~ ostk is close to having a ruling that would begin discovery should they win. and these people amung others will have their day in front of a jury!

Yeah. Noticed that. Or at least, he wasn't pulling his usual "moral outrage" act.

I actually don't believe Herb did anything intentionally wrong (that he could go to jail for). He doesn't seem very smart, but smart enough to know it would be very easy to nail him if he took monetary compensation from short sources.

I suppose, tho, he could be sued in civil court by injured companies or shareholders if it was found he printed known false information, even if he didn't get paid by short HFs.

Another thing. Cox is a Bush political appointee. Where are the Democrats? THey bitch about everything else?

You saw the bonuses on Wall St.. You heard about the Aguirre problem,. and some of the things alledged to be going on, like turning 5mm into 16.3 in five months. Do you really thing those guys are that fucking smart? Really now.

Look at the beginning pages of this thread. Pretty hostile to these ideas. But now? One of the things that needed to happen was the everyday guy needed to become outraged. I don't know what critical mass is, but we're working that way. These people will destroy our entire system to protect their own sorry asses. It's over for them, and I believe they know it.

This is the financial scandal of our lifetimes. Nope. It was a good thing what happened today. I'll make a bet Specter is on this like Sans -a - belts on a fat guy.

We've got 17 year olds dying in drainage ditches because they want to be US citizens, and these assholes can't even do their jobs. Give 'em an M4 and make them prove they want to be productive members of the society. Off to the joke thread. SEC.Gov
 
Today in the NYTimes, Norris attacks Overstock, gloats that Gradient investigation is halted, blah blah blah.

I wonder if Floyd knows that NYT is on the SHO list. That means, at best, the powers will try to push the stock down to a much lower level with the use of fake shares. At best, they will destroy the capital formation of the NYT. There goes his pension. I wonder if he and Nocera, another frequent critic, are smart enough to realize they are targeted for unemployment, or at best, their 401k destruction. Amazing, these reporters. I wonder what their motivation is, at the liberal gray lady, to side with the government in this? They certainly hate Bush. Cox is a Republican, and a political appointee. What type of motivation would be used to get them to totally side with the HedgeFunds?

they are supposed to be reporters, and they don't even consider this is by far not even over. They don't even mention Aguirre or the Senate.

I can't wait for Tuesday.
