It's time I told you this, and I have no fundamendal axe to grind. An Instituional type told me he owned size. Didn't go into details like the Alsin article.

He said, good business model, lost a bit more than he wanted, blah blah blah, but it could go to zero. (He wasn't talking fundies there). You go to stock loan at XXXXXXX, and you ask Vinney, "you lend that hundie OSTK? I did too'? "You guys did, I did too." and so on. When unlimited paper floods the market, and then research is tainted, that is criminal. That's what it's about. Now some of you morons think, "Boy, if I could get in on that". Others think, "I could n't do that. It's illegal . Innocent people get killed".

Alsin pretty much told you what Byrne has said repeatedly. All I'm saying is, there is a diversity of opinion. Settle the trades and let the market sort it out. That being said, thirty million naked shares take it to, what, $150? 200? See why they are fighting so hard? Oh, the thiry million....... look at the next post.

Now before some 15 year old who is on Daddies' Internet connectioin goes bullshit and attacks me, listen to me closely. Patrick Byrne may be eccentric. He may be given to far - out analogies. Do you and your ilk really not understand yet that your simpering "Oh my god people are laughing at you don't you know what are you going to do they're laughing oh my god people are laughing" could never affect a man like me? Has that really not sunk in on you guys yet? Have you been paying attention at all? Have I shown any evidence of caring what a poodle like you laughs at?

As far as the multiple-lending argument: the DTCC swears they do not let it happen. They will not describe the mechanism that they would need in place for it not to happen, and no one believes them when they say it anyway, but just for the record, your whole multiple-lending argument falls flat because it misses that point.

In fact, I should point out that it is my argument, not your argument: though it is against the law and their stated rules, the whole NSS movement takes one of its main points to be precisely that such multiple-lending does occur, and hence, the number of share entitlements can grow far in excess of actual shares. The actual number, incidentally, is not really, "infinite": according to some, however, it is 15-20.

Oh, by the way: you keep using the 19 million outstanding shares in your arguments, which is one of the things I consider them so dumb I do not respond normally (someone emailed me this tonight, with a message that "ET sure seems to hate you"). In any case, returning to the real world for the moment, the DTCC only has 8.7 million OSTK shares in its vault. We now have a reported short interest of 8.9 million: short interest is thus 103% of float. As far as the stated rules of the DTCC are concerned, we have accelerated through the speed of light. They have said that this situation is impossible. Now it has happened.


Now think up some more simpering statements about my math, Trash. If any observer thinks there is one that is not bonehead enough that it deserves a response from me, just let me know.

PS Incidentally, I don't believe the 8.9 million either: I think that the failed short sales plus the failed long sales + ex-clearing and overseas fails bring our true short interest up to 22 million: some smart observers say I am nuts, and that it really is 60-80 million. We'll see if I can ever get the DTCC to get in the ring with me.
 
what bothers me so much is the level of brazen disregard for the illegal naked short laws. its almost like they know they will be protected from the highest levels.

heaven forbid we suffer another fake terror attack and it is used to crash the markets, just remember the put volume in the airlines, insurance companies, and other industries directly affected by 9/11. anyone care to follow up on where that lead to???? wait... the same sec dropped the ball there too??? oh my gosh... was there a complicit media then also????? ppl... wake up... this shit is too easy to read.

I'm sure, as the DTCC is quoted, PB is saying they lie thru their teeth. Remember, he feels the true total naked short/short is closer to 30mm, while some say 60mm.

Spend some time tonight charting naked shorts. Buyins.net has them all for free. I don't think they will be quite so bold holding stocks back.

If you want to know why BD;'s trade at a low multiple, look at their DTCC postion vs. their beneficial ownership. Check out the first two names. Look at the size. And think. Think about what this means when Joe Sixpack, Mr. Liquidity to the Big boys, finds out and deserts the market. Anybody here remember '69 - '82?
 
nice little pull back on overstock, time to jump back on the short wagon and make some money, thx for keeping this thread around and bringing my attention to it flytiger.
