Leader / fuhrer....further, if America wasn’t fundamentally progress leaning we’d still be sitting with a king as our leader. Many people tried for that during this election, but fortunately they lost.

stop with the labels. No serious person wants pure socialism and definitely pure communism.
a lot of people want to see gay rights, women’s rights, and greater equality of opportunity. Are those socialist ideas?

No, it is about socialism. For several months, you literally had people in the streets of Portland, Seattle and other cities wearing the communist hammer and sickle and burning American flags. You can say these are fringe groups, but the younger generations are moving towards socialism. That's a cultural issue as I was saying earlier that cannot be easily reversed.

As far as gay and women's rights, no elected official on the right is against those things today. They might not favor special rights, but no one is against equal rights. Some claim that abortion is a women's rights issue, although it clearly affects both men and women.

The problem with the flight from California and the Northeast is the idiots who are fleeing democrat shit holes move and continue to vote for the same democrat policies!
Data has shown that the people moving to Texas actually vote slightly more conservative than the natives. It is not a huge difference, but it seems like the people bailing out out of California are the Republicans. California does have millions of Republicans also.
Also, Texas was Democrat already until about the mid 90s. Until 1994 they had a Democrat governor. They had a US Senator also as a Democrat until 1993. So the recent Republican trend has only been 26 years or so.
These things go in cycles. Labor used to be solidly Democrat. Now blue collar labor voters are trending Republican.
There are many elected officials who are against gay marriage.
Portland doesn’t represent the liberal political voice which in reality quite center.
Abortion is a man’s issue in so much as conservatives want to control women.
The political conservative voice has shifted right (Gingrich strategy) and now gone outright insane with the head of the Texas GOP recommending secession.
Good 1st post, welcome to the forum.
While I suspect that there are many elected officials that don't like the idea of gay marriage, I don't know of any that are actively opposing it. Even Mitt Romney was against gay marriage and I suspect he still personally does not like the idea. However, according to Wikipedia, since 2012 he has supported anti-discrimination laws and domestic partnership benefits. So what elected official is campaigning on removing equal rights and protection for gays today? I don't know of any and I suspect that would hurt them politically.
I think it does. It's a solid blue state and has been for a long time. But ok, how about Bernie Sanders? How about AOC? Read AOC's twitter feed and then tell me she's not an outright socialist / communist. She's a prominent figure in the Dem party and easily won against her last challenge...that woman from CNBC who was far more qualified and intelligent.
Abortion affects unborn male babies just as much as unborn female babies. Actually, it's an even bigger racial issue considering that minority babies in terms of race are disproportionately aborted...only bringing that up though because the left loves to bring up racial equality issues.
Crazy when Texas does it, justified when California and other blue states tried to do it?
