It's also unclear how many tickers are there that have options. I mean in South Korea.
kospi option is probably the biggest in the whole world.
Don't expect too much outside of the US. Only Germany and The Netherlands have relatively good options markets, but the actual listings are less exciting than in the US (mostly on large companies and endless lists of index options that never trade). For instance, options on ETFs are almost non-existent in Europe. In the US almost all ETFs and lots of small caps have options. Nowadays new ETFs (like recent single stock or crypto) already had options at the first trade day!Options don't seem to be a big deal/player in other countries as they are in the U.S. at the retail level, which makes me wonder why? And what countries do have a robust retail market for options? Has anyone ever done a study? Are big players trying to make a change?
