Options on minis

Hey this is a stupid question.....are there options for the mini contracts. I wanted to hedge my trades for the minis.

Yes. there are contracts for ES, YM, ER2, NQ, etc. if that's what you're asking. It just depends on your broker if they offer them. I think Thinkorswim will be offering it soon but IB has had it since I moved my account there.

lasner: there are options on eminis but be careful when you try to hedge your emini positions with options on eminis; i am sure you are aware, but just in case; the risk in eminis is not defined clearly and by hedging them with options on eminis you might easily get into the trap that you think they are hedged but in reality they are really hedged only between certain price ranges.

Same goes for hedging equity positions with options but atleast they are not as leveraged;
