Options Mentoring

I'm a Sheridan student and will add my vote to the 'yes' column.

I've read 20+ option books and none of them tell you what to do when things go wrong. Dan will.

There is no substitute to having a teacher who spent 23 years in the option trading pits.

What sold me was going to www.cboe.com searching the webcasts for 'Sheridan' and watching them. There are 17+ to choose from. I'd start with 'Income I". It's obvious he is for real and has a plan.

I also got references and checked them out. Spoke to a retired physician and pilot, both of whom are doing very well with the trading he teaches.

I could have saved much money and many years had I found him earlier.

my opinion is that you can use the money to trade and learn. anybody can tell you how to swim, but till you get into the water, you can never learn. so save ur money and start trading. learn to trade the market with small capital.

I did exactly that when I started trading options. Kept my positions small, kept losses small and gradually wore down my account. But I did learn. I learned how to lose small amounts gradually.
Now things are differerent, no thanks to the above advice (although well intentioned it may be).

My question is posed to Brooks . . .

Have you worked with Dan directly, one-on-one? Is it a direct phone call to you? All of these 'mentoring' programs are different, and I have a moderate interest in this thread, but I wonder how much 'mentoring' there is, and how much of it is individual learning.
 
I will be working with Dan directly. I've just started month 3 of the 6 month program.

It's a very well thought out program. You read a syllabus and do the homework. You also attend online syllabus classes. You read a Trading Manual with all the strategies and up to date trading guidelines. You watch archived webinars for each strategies.

There are weekly papertrader classes and veteran trader classes. You get 6-8 sessions with a mentor that works for Dan. Then, you get 6-8 sessions with Dan himself. Just you and him.

There are hundreds of past 1 on 1 sessions that you can watch, organized and searchable.

You do have to do work and show that you know the concepts. Currently, it includes a 6 month trial with Optionvue. As it stands, you have access to the vast resources on the website forever.

You meet a lot of nice (and sharp) option traders.

The mentoring is currently done via WebEx sessions. You call in via telephone to join a teleconference with Dan. Other students watch and can participate via a chat window. A few of Dan's students have private sessions (some work for brokers etc) but the vast majority are public and archived. There are nearly 1500 archived sessions already so there's plenty of materials to review.

Watching others getting mentored is nearly as valuable as your personal mentoring as we all tend to make the same mistakes.

Thanks, but it still keeps this thread alive . . .

There are two schools of thought: those truly helped by mentoring and working with others to learn options, and those that believe that one's money is better spent learning from books and papertrading. This is all a matter of preference and opinion. It's all about what works for you, and not anyone else. We all can go on about Optionetics and Sheridan and all of those other programs, but it all boils down to what one needs and can afford . . .
 
Yes, they are *.arf files. There are links on the site for the player. I like them. You can download them and watch offline. The presenter shares his desktop and it's very easy to understand and follow along.
