Options Executions and Brokers?

Quote from joeyata1:

lmao you are stupid. if you did some research you can get future trades much cheaper than ib with a 10 times better platform. i use ib for options only. there stock commissions are criminal

Right, Genesis can offer less than half price what IB offers
for stocks. Even futures are cheaper with other brokers.

With IB the only advantage is that you can trade some less
papular market.

You will have more relations and contacts trading with
other brokers, if you seek trading knowledge and custom
service.

I use smart on stock and options. TWS is fine for eminis and

stocks but OEX options take 30 seconds to a minute to show the

executed fill. Limit order entries post immediately but

not fills.

I like IB and have traded with them in futures and stocks for

about 5 years. However in the last 3 weeks since I started day

trading OEX options the fills have been as stated above.

That is for a reason. OEX options are singly listed by CBOE. We deliberately don't route your orders to the auto-ex system, because we believe that we can often obtain you a better fill by routing to the floor broker, where the order gets manual execution.

Only a couple of more CBOE index options get this treatment. The rest is fully electronic and aside from those times when your order gets routed to AMEX - the occasional slowness of which is beyond our control, the executions are near instantaneous.

IBSoft....... thanks for the informative reply.

Could you suggest any index options that I might trade where I

could recieve instaneous electronic fills?

One big plus at IB are low commissions on small orders in stocks

and options. 100 shares of GOOG for $1.00.............hard to beat.

It is much simpler to do it the other way around. I will find out tomorrow which other index options get the manual treatment. Anything else that we offer execution on is fully electronic.

I will suggest a list of liquid broad-based index and etf options tomorrow.

Quote from Samson77:

I tried to do a 20 contract vertical spread trade on Wednesday.

The order kept getting bounced saying insufficient margin.

 I had enough to do 200 if I wanted.

I tried 3 x, then I checked the description and it read : selling 1 = 10 contracts, so I tried again with 2 thinking well that means I will sell 20 right!

Wrong I sold 2 lol.

It was the end of the day and by the time I called and got through (10 mins later) the market had moved and the day was over.

Of course the following day Thursday they dropped and the trade was not worth it anymore and Friday they expired worthless.

That's .50 X 20 that IB's stupid platform cost me AGAIN.

IB is good for futures but come Monday I'm moving ALL my options trading funds to OptionXpress.

So put that in your pipe and smoke it!!!!!!!!!!

And yes I can give you specifics if you want them are you going to give me $1000 ??????

I'm still waiting 4 weeks for another credit that IB said they where going to send me for their mistake $250.

IBsoft

I stay away from posts full of question marks, exclamation marks, capital letters and derogatory adjectives/statements.

I also tend to ignore posters who frequently bash IB.

Your a MORON and a shame to IB !!!!

I frequently give them cudo's for futures trading and it's this kind of nonsense that makes me move my options business TODAY.

I will also write a letter to your head office outlining just how you handled this forum and complaint.

People listen closely to me!!!

IB sucks horribly for options trades compared to OptionXpress

They are excellent for futures but forget options unless you like punishment and abuse.

OptionsXpress will treat you MUCH better and they are far more user friendly.

Stay away from IB because this is the kind of treatment you will get on simple issues and it will cost you money.
