Optionetics: Good or Bad ?

I'm new to option trading or trading in general but I have studied a lot. I've never attended optionetics class; however, I can say that 2 days is not enough time to learn option trading.

I recommend Think or Swim seminar which is free in many area of the countries. You'd save a lot of money in both courses and mistake. Then, you can take 3 days class for $199 in Chicago.

Even if you learn all the theory, it does not mean you'll be success. You have to know how to trade too.
 
I have enjoyed Think or Swim's classes...I've attended FREE 101, Beyond the basics and a special events...very good, worth every penny :) In addition I did spend $199 for a learn to trade (made $100 after commissions on the trades we made during the class) But reading several books and studying was helpful and start small... build on what you learn by actually trading...nothing beats experience.

I met several people at the last free TOS seminar who have been thru optionetics and other expensive courses...newsletters etc and to a person they felt they got more at what we attended...(for free) I think they felt ripped off from the optionetics...it seems like they keep selling you something.

thinkorswim.com and its OptionPlanet, and TOS Liquid platform seem legit; their various 1 and 3 day classes are $199...

Was just at the Las Vegas Trader's Expo Dec. 13-16, 2005. I just got back this morning. My friend attended the Think or Swim "free" seminar by Tom Sosnoff. Impression she got was he was trading like crazy or high on steriods and ended up after all the trades just ahead $25.00. Definitely, I can do better than that as my last trade on XTO AI netted me $350 for 2 days work.
Like what I tell my friend----not all traders are the same or all good. Having attended a number of good traders offering seminars at the Expo, I would pick Oliver Velez and Lawrence McMillan as among the best at the Expo. Price Headley was also there but, big disappointment that his supposed "free" seminar turned into a huge sales pitch right from the start. A lof of people started walking out then. I do have his DVD and which is good.
Did pick up some validation that what I was doing trading made sense from some of the experts point of view like having a trading journal, etc. Ryan Jones dealt on the mental side of trading but, I "do not" agree with all his assertions although, he had some good points.

From what I read above they still have those "free" preview-sessions with the high-pressure sell tactics to push the course. If you get a chance I suggest you attend one, only for the comedic value and for you to realise what a bunch of jokers these guys really are :D

i attended one in london. it was a joke all they did was to try & sell a very expensive course. they claimed to be the second largest options traders in the world, if they were then they would not waste their time trying to sell courses to members of the public.
 
so the million dollar question is .... is there a seminar or company out there that is worth there grain in salt when it comes to trading? Has there been anyone happy with the course they took either online or at a company? It seems to be tough to start in this business if there is really no one out there that is willing to teach you that can really do it for themselves.

When traders education comes from a corporation ,it is very unlikely it will have more value then what you can learn from books. Your best bet is to scan web for posters with experience in subject you are interested in and contact them directly .

i agree a few books on the subect is better value then one of these courses.

Not sure why you're looking to a seminar. It's easy to educate oneself for free from the internet about all the tradable markets and the different approaches to trading those markets. Once you've done that, you need to develop a plan for trading your chosen market or markets in your chosen time frame. Again, this information is available for free on the internet. Granted, if you choose to trade options right out of the gate, you are probably well advised to get the McMillan or Natenberg books and do a lot of studying, especially if you have decided to try some of the more complicated strategies. Simple options strategies can be understood for free, from matyerial on the 'net. If you actually understand that there exist complicated options strategies, then you have obviously come far enough on your own that you can figure out how to take the next step, right?

Similarly, if you have decided that complex arbitrage is the first kind of trading you are going to do, then you are well capitalized and savvy enough to figure out the next steps without the help of a seminar.

What is it you are looking for from a weekend seminar? I hope you're not looking for a plan, because they aren't available at weekend seminars.

As someone who has been attending seminars since, April 2005, I can tell you that a lot of them are worthless. Some are good too. Just got back from the Las Vegas Trader's Expo yesterday 12/17/05. We were there from Dec. 13-16, 2005. Did not attend the paid events which cost around $300 and up each seminar. Listened to Oliver Velez, Lawrence McMillan, Toni Turner, Price Headley, David Nassar, etc. I would rate Oliver Velez and Lawrence McMillan the best on the free seminars. Price Headley's supposed seminar turned into a sales ploy right from the start and people started leaving the room in droves right after that!!!Let me state that I do not work for them just in case this is perceived as a commercial. I use Investools and had to pay $1600 (actually, cost $3200, good for two people). I still use it today. Is it worth the $1600? I would say definitely in my experience as the wealth of information in their website will astound you!!! It has charts, it has data, and if you know how to use it----it can help your trading. I have made up that amount several times over in trading options. Also, the first 6 months is free and then, you have to pay $60.00 a month for the use of their website. I opted to pay on an annual basis of $595 or around $49 a month. Can you compile all the data that they have? Maybe, but, the huge time you would incur doing so, will be a huge waste of time in my opinion. Better to use that time researching your trades.
 
To anyone else interested in attending seminars, stay away from Wizetrade, Forex Made Easy, 5 Star Trading. I attended all of these so, I can speak from experience. All are sales ploys and the worst was 5 Star Trading. Their 3 day seminar supposedly to teach you for $99 is a big rip off. You waste 3 days listening to mostly sales ploys. 90% of the time is a sales pitch to attend their seminar for around $8000. Their information is web based and very similar to Investools but, the information presented is not better but, inferior. The speaker babbles on endlessly about mundane stuff and rarely touching on trading. Also, the strategies taugh are complex. Probably, to encourage you to attend the seminar??? Why would I pay $8000 for information which I can get for $3000, let alone $1600??? Doesn't make sense doesn't it??? Also, education is a never ending journey.
I am still studying and honing my trading skills although, I can comfortably trade now and make money. Still have to work on my mistakes and try and minimize them----only then, will I be satisfied.
