I was short NVDA Sep 29 $435 Put. The stock closed at $134.99 so the option expired $0.01 ITM. I was expecting auto assignment but was informed by my broker it expired worthless. Is chance of assignment about 50/50 in this case or I just got lucky?

Someone long the put instructed their broker not to exercise and OCC picked you. Since your broker informed you it expired worthless, you should not see any assignment
