Option Contract Abbreviations

SNAP1720V11-3
17 - means 2017
20 - expiry is the 20th of the month
V - delivery month is October
11 - the strike
What is the "-3" part or the "-OG"?

what is this from? "V" is not part of the OSI symbology. None of these are typical for an option platfrom.

They are not from an option platform. It is historical data I got from the CBOE. This is how the CBOE lists all of its options

That is an old symbol code not used anymore for equity options.
The new one is called OSI.

Why isn't the CBOE using it on their website? If there was a key, I would not be asking. Let me know if you find the key.

I think it's like this:

A-L is for the calls from Jan-Dec... A=Jan B= Feb etc
M-X is for the puts from Jan-Dec... M=Jan N=Feb...

A-L = 12 letters
M-X = 12 letters

Don't know what E or OG stands for... I though mayb E is for European?... Or different contract sizes?

You sure these aren't warrants or something?
