Opt Out of "Enhanced Data Feed" on IB?

I read the Casey Report on brokers selling "enhanced data feeds" that allow purchasers such as HFTs to track your trades: http://www.caseyresearch.com/pdfs/crTcr20120726102306.pdf . The report also says that most brokers let you opt out. So I contacted IB's customer service to ask to opt out and they claimed ignorance and insisted that IB does not do this.

Does anyone have any more information on this? The article's from 2012 so maybe the brokers don't do this any more or maybe I needed to get connected with the right department or use the right term? Has anyone successfully opted out with their broker?

That's reassuring to hear, thanks. I've read the order routing disclosure, but I'm not sure selling an enhanced data feed is necessarily an order routing issue as it sounds like it could also be an additional service sold to HFTs that's unrelated to how your order is actually routed.

Links please to the existence of such feed. An interview with a "dude" unfortunately does not qualify. Exchange link or broker link please. Thanks

If I had one, I would not have needed to ask about it here as I'd already have my answer. I'm just trying to suss out the veracity of the report's claims.

so why linking it up to IB then? Confused...

IB is specifically mentioned in the report (although the report claims a number do it), but most importantly for me, IB is also the broker that I use, so I was wondering if anyone had some IB specific knowledge. E.g. "yes they do it, but you have to ask to opt out specifically using the term XYZ" or "IB used to do it, but they stopped years ago" or "IB does not do, this report has been shown to be a lie", or "you have to send your opt out request to this specific department" etc.

I made my opinion clear above. But I have no affiliation whatsoever with IB.

The only way to be certain is to get the answer from the horse's mouth, my recommendation would be to write to the following individual :

Jeffrey A. Bauch
Director, Compliance Operations
Interactive Brokers LLC

If you do write, don't forget to come back here and tell us what you were told !!
