Opening up a Whites only pizza shop in AZ question.

2. Under current Arizona law, if a business wanted to discriminate against gays, they would not need this bill to be passed to do so. It is not currently illegal for a business to deny service to someone because they are gay. Some cities in Arizona have ordinances against it but there is no state law against it. If business owners in Arizona wanted to deny service to gays, they could do so in most of the state under current law.

3. Even though business owners across most of Arizona (and much of the United States) have the right to deny service to gays, they are not doing so. Opponents of the bill claim it would usher in an era of "Jim Crow for gays," in which gays would be denied service at businesses across the state. If business owners really wanted to do this, though, they could already be doing it. The bill does not make that more or less likely. Business owners do not want to deny service to gays. This is not because they fear government sanction. Rather, it is because: 1) Their religious, ethical or moral beliefs tell them it is wrong to deny service; and/or, 2) the profit motive - turning away customers is no way to run a business.

This bill does not specify gays. It just gives you the right to refuse service period. So my question is before this bill, would it be illegal to open a Whites only pizza place? and after this bill is passed, will it be legal then?

Meanwhile a criminally corrupt congress and White House continue to erode freedom across the board, while we the people fight over whether a homo can get something to eat at the restaurant of their choice. People this easily distracted don't deserve to be free.

It is stupid, I agree. While it's pathetic the AZ gop had the time to draft this legislation, it's a least some relief that the nation has the time to bitchslap the AZ gop.

It's akin to the house being on fire, but raising Hell with the fire department for knocking the mail box over as the house goes up in smoke... I could care less about the homos, and restaurants. We've got much more MASSIVE problems that demand attention from ALL press/news organizations.

You did read why they decided to legislate it, right? You heard about the stupidity on the other side of the coin that made it possible to sue a Christian photographer for refusing to photograph something that went against her religion, right?

I mean, you're going to be fair and balanced on this, right?

with due respect this is a matter of freedom, cap. at least in my view. I'm not sure what you and leap are on about as most of the topics on here work in this way: OP posts something controversial, ppl make arguments for or against, and it usually boils down to big govt sympathizers vs people who value freedom. every conservative leaning individual on this thread has railed plenty against our out of control fed gov.

+1 so that case is what spawned this bill? i didn't know that, but I remember that case.

I'm the guy who's all for total freedom, and I do despise big gubment. It just bothers me when the massive issues take a back seat to "smaller" ones. And I'm not making light of this at all as I don't want some government forcing me to do anything, but again, we've got problems that make this one (and it is that), pale in comparison. And do I ever rally against our out of control government... I'm an active tea party member. I hate to call this a small issue. It's just another example of freedom being taken away by tyrants. My main issue with it is the fact that it dominates the airways, while big, huge, nasty, evils are going down that are killing America.

She didn't want to take pics of two fags marrying, and I applaud her for leaving. What's wicked is knowing government types would love to FORCE her to take the pics. Blows the mind!

I know what you're saying, but it absolutely trumps hearing about miley cyrus shaking her avg ass on stage or biebers latest arrest. lol i don't watch the news for that garbage, but they cover it all the time.

This issue is important imo, but of course it's not as big of a deal as like nsa spying, or our wannabe dictator prez writing his own laws. Still I get tired of typing the same stuff over and over on the same topics.. i might just start quoting myself on certain topics.
