no. You know the opening price for the day. what time is that calculated?

It is what it is at the opening, based on overnight trading. No magic calculations occur.

So at 9:30 that is the official opening price for that day? I'm trying to calculate some pivots but I'm not sure what to use as opening price. My charts (Quotetracker) have a line you can add that shows opening price but its no where near the 9:30 open.

9:30 est is the opening price. Pivots may be calculated using different formulas, search the net for some more info.

Quotetracker may be using opening price of 5:15 est for the electronic trading.
