Opening Orders - 2009

Hi Don,
Typically, how much of a pull back do you await? For example, do you wait on a pullback that's a percent of the ATR or is the pull back based on 50% fib retracement from the opening trend?

Quote from DonKee:

I'll disagree with that.

The openings don't work like they used to because there are many elements of the market structure that have changed over the past five or so years.

I stopped opgs every morning many years ago. Each trader must weigh their OPG P/L, time spent implementing, and lost opportunities available during the same 15 minutes of OPG executions.

I found that trading with the trend after the first pull back was significantly more reliable and profitable than trying to pick off a few pennies counter trend trading the opening.

no, no you must be confused... over 50% of the traders at bright have been there for 5 years or more...

Yeah training ! Or trend trading millions of dollars.... what he "sells" has attrition and spread has tightened a lot, hence no consistent scam any longer....

Your claims that opening orders don't work and your baseless slander against Don is pathetic. As long as the NYSE has specialists, an opening print, and the futures are still trading, opening orders work. It has been explained here too many times to count. It is not a homerun strategy, it is a small edge and you get in and out for a few cents with high winning percentage.
