Opening a new IBKR account, in progress for over 40 days

Based on everything I have heard over the last few months, I wouldn't touch IBKR with a ten-foot pole

I'm IB "retail" customer since 2 years. Overall I am very satisfied. The system is stable and the prices are unbeatable.

When I created my retail account at IB 2 years ago, it only took 2 days and everything was ready.
 
Sorry to hear you guys are having problems. Realistically - every broker has problems once in a while.

Happy customer here, but my account was opened many years ago.

I'm using IB as a retail trader for 2 years. In that time I was totally happy with this broker.

But now I have to move from retail to professional trading (changed tax rules in Germany). Thats the reason, I have founded the company.

The waiting time through ib led to 60,000 EUR in lost profits. I could cry.
 
I have been asked three times to upload my ID over the last two months due to Brexit. I uploaded every time via their portal, but they still keep asking me despite the website clearly says RECEIVED, .....

This is just one of many issues over the last months that made me conclude something must be very wrong in their compliance department. It's almost March and they still haven't transferred my account to the new entity on the Continent.....

Absolute chaos.

The last emails to the New Accounting Team were completely ignored. Haven't received a sign of life for weeks.

I have been waiting for my account for 49 days
 
Crazy, I have been a customer for 11 years and given them many active traders.

I was asked to prove my SOW in October 2020, and I sent them 50 MB of documents (accepted after some weeks). Three weeks ago they asked me for the same documents, even though I have not deposited money in between.

Edit: It's almost March and my account is still not transferred to the new entity....

That's one funny remark. What is it you use, Robinhood lol? IB is the gold standard of online brokers for serious investors. Just don't expect to be baby-sat if you don't know what you're doing.
Well, if you like 8% margin loans and your order flow sold to the big boyz, then by all means go elsewhere.
No affiliation whatsoever, I'm just a customer.

the gold standard is a broker that when you call they know your first name, ask how your kids are doing and then solves your problem within 10 minutes.

customer service is more important than anything else when choosing a broker because when shit hits the fan, your broker is your only friend (and that’s only because you pay them).
