Openecry vs Others - Speed and Features

Quote from danger66:

Jim, Amp Futures offers a white label version of OEC's platform. I have been told that they only license OEC's software - and provide their own servers and technology. Does this mean that Amp customers wouldn't have necessarily experienced the same technical problems that direct OEC clients did?

I'd be surprised if AMP's oec platform didn't connect to oec's servers. It's easy enough to determine. If you have an AMP demo running post the ip's you're connecting to.

Afraid I know nothing about Amp Futures or their technical setup nor how they utilise OEC s/w......

Given that please beaware that whatever I say below is speculation on my part .....

Yes, i imagine it is possible to use just the OEC s/w on a seperate AMP network infrastructure though - 010Maximus (a previous poster) makes a good point - you shouldfollow up on that

It's also possible that if they are using an older version of OEC s/w (say several versions older than the present OEC version) then AMP users may not have had any (fewer) s/w bugs than OEC users have had with the most recent version....

Basically, if you want to find out about AMP & OEC s/w best to talk to one of their customers who uses AMP & OECs/w. Ask AMP if they are prepared to provide a reference client that you can speak to...........

I can't imagine that OEC through Cannon or Amp is going to be seperated from OEC infastructure. I have traded with all of the major futures platforms and they are all connected to both the broker and the developers infastructure. This includes TransAct, X Trader, Ninja with Zen and TT.

The cost alone to build your own seperate network infastructure would prevent a broker from doing so IMO.

Good point jim, but I already confirmed with a rep that Amp OEC customers should experience the same problems as OEC's direct customers.

You're right dan. Amp confirmed that it's not separate - but an OEC rep told me that all they do is license the software to the IB (implying that there might be different technology behind it).

with amp, i was told its thru oec directly. however ninja with zen-fire thru dorman with amp or other brokers can be a good option at this time for you.

Is there a good UK brokerage firm that will allow me to trade ES and DAX and use these platforms or AT? I would also like to diversify a bit away from US firms at the moment.

If the CME is in the US, will a UK firm have US based servers or a US branch to minimize latency?

I just want to be under a UK umbrella with all the crap that's going on right now.

As a new OEC customer, I traded the FOMC today @ OEC for the first time and it performed flawlessly.....it was the best FOMC trading session I've ever had, the charts were current, my fills were prompt, and compared to where I used to trade futures, I was more than a little pleased!
