Open Source Order Execution Software

It's been a few years since I've looked into the ET API and it looks like it has not improved at all. Their design is strictly retail, has inherent delays (REST) and autowealth's description of their login procedure looks like a nightmare. And it's still beta?? Wow.

Yes.
I'm just hoping to bring together a team of programmers to make sure there is one open source solution that shows integration. For now, I'm just designing it to handle the limited needs of my system, but plan to upgrade it from there.

My thought is that if several programmers relied on the same open source solution then when a broker modifies their system there will be a unified response to get the system working again. It's 'common sense' but . . .

Well, I should have it working well by tomorrow.
I may send Etrade the modifications I made to their existing PHP SDK
and suggest that they share it (as a temporary solution). Who knows?

I got their login to work now . . . It is a badge of honor for me.
Considering the fact that I had to fix their SDK on the way, I definitely feel good.

There is still more work to do. For example, if your app happens to have 2 hours of inactivity, you have to renew.
There are far better ways to do the authorization.

What's worse is that for all the "suckerity" they are trying to have, they are actually undermining their system by requiring a human to log in at least once a week. User error can cause problems like hacked account.

Oh, and for anyone who happens to hire someone in Russia to work on their account along the way like I did . . .

If someone logs into your account from that area of the World, they will suspend your account and demand you answer a lot of questions that you may not know the answers to in order to get your account working again. It doesn't matter if you give them plenty of information to prove your identity. They are going to demand specific answers to specific questions.
 
my account on ET got blocked several times for simply browsing several times my personal information when I tried to change my address. Took 2 weeks to unblock with some chinese guy with a poor American accent trying to ask me all kind of silly questions.

they are not ready for real traders, and their workforce is mainly from India, China and the Philippines so no wonder their whole system is completely fucked up
 
Etrade has sucked for a very long time. I begged them to close an account I had, instead they kept sending statements about my $1.16 or somesuch and advertising how many "accounts" they had... then they got hacked and my info was stolen!!

What about Interactive Brokers API? The trading environment I rent is handled by some very responsive, talented, and straight talking people. They say there is only so much they can do with IB and publicly say that the API is difficult to work with and problematic... They don't seem to say that about any of the 12 other brokers they support. They don't support ETrade at all, they don't seem to be oriented towards daytrading...

I JUST got 2 brokers working and was not aware of tradeMONSTER's feature set. :(

I am contacting them now about getting the API documentation to see if it meets my needs.
When filling out the form (just to get the documentation about their API) I noticed some odd
questions.

1. What can you tell me about their privacy concerns related to their API documentation?
2. Did you have to sign an NDA to get their API documentation?
3. Are they against adding a connection to their APIs from mulit-broker systems?
