Ooops! Everyone re-do your costs for Global "Warming"

There are a number of things we can do. We can't do anything about the Sun but we can put up Solar shades in space. We can decrease greenhouse gases, we can throw seawater into the stratosphere to make reflective cirrus clouds. But the projects are a little bigger than your ordinary backyard tree planting so clowns like you that confuse science with wishful thinking CAN delay and confuse and doom the world to a much worse future unless you somehow wake up and stop drinking the coolaid.
It does not matter if you are a trader or a scientist or both. In the end humans form civilizations to do what they as can not do individuals . We as individuals have a choice to be part of the problem, or part of the solution.

Very well said although the idea of Solar shades and shooting seawater into the air are pie-in-the-sky.

Sadly, even the 'easy' stuff is difficult to implement due to obstructions by industry and conservatives. For example, equipping all coal-based smokestacks in the USA with scrubbers would require less than 50 billion dollars. These pollutants account for 40% of our air pollution. The industry opposes requirements for installing scrubbers and prevert the law by calling new smokeswtacks 'improvements' rather than 'new' construction. Doesn't matter: let the federal government pay to install scrubbers on all smokestacks as we all benefit from the results.

Another very easy but 'opposed by industry' initiative is the banning of ALL incadescent light bulbs and requiring the use of CFL's. Thankfully, Walmart has adopted a program of voluntarily ending the sale of all incadescent bulbs. Europe has also banned their sale and the USA should also.

Another very easy but opposed by industry would be the adoption of higher gas mileage standards. And I don't mean "by the year 2020": I mean now. I drive a 'gas-guzzler' Tahoe and have no problem paying a 'carbon emission tax' for the right to continue to do so. Our reps need to get a backbone and impose such taxes.

In short, the very quick and very easy, first step solution to our problems is CONSERVATION. Unfortunately, even these simple steps will be opposed by the right wing and they YELL the loudest.

The last time we had such a minimum in sunspot activity we had the little ice age that started in the 1300s and ended in 1850 or so.

so it's mean that we have 700+ years to check the problems ? Or to be fair 350+, so before the half end we are already out ot trouble ?

Could you bet if somone will be able to read our message in 700years ?

"...what has become arguably the most influential set of evidence used to support the case that the world faces unprecedented global warming, developed, copied and promoted hundreds of times, has now been as definitively kicked into touch as was Mann's "hockey stick" before it. Yet it is on a blind acceptance of this kind of evidence that 16,500 politicians, officials, scientists and environmental activists will be gathering in Copenhagen to discuss measures which, if adopted, would require us all in the West to cut back on our carbon dioxide emissions by anything up to 80 per cent, utterly transforming the world economy...

...we can see from the CRU's website, the largest single source of funding for all its projects has been the European Union, which at Copenhagen will be more insistent than anyone that the world should sign up to what amounts to the most costly economic suicide note in history."

Here comes the wealth transfer. Bye, bye USA and Europe, hello Asia.

We had snow in Dallas this week...and way down south in Houston 2 days ago!

Crazy! right? These liberal nazi global warming peeps will ruin the USA.

Also, we will have another ice age...I hope they can read our messages when it comes.

Fox News (link won't post)

...The controversy swirling around the leaked e-mails of climate scientists apparently trying to downplay data and exclude dissenting opinions has led to calls for President Obama to skip this month's climate summit in Denmark until the e-mails can be investigated.

Instead, the White House announced Friday that Obama was doubling down on his commitment to the summit's goals and moving his visit later in the month, hoping it will secure a "meaningful" agreement...

"The very integrity of the report that the Obama administration has predicated much of its climate change policy upon has been called into question and it is unconscionable that this administration and Congress is willing to abdicate responsibility of uncovering the truth to the United Nations," the California Republican said in a written statement.

"The administration's Climate-gate denials and refusal to acknowledge the need for a congressional investigation are a sad abdication of their responsibility to ensure that U.S. policies are not driven by corrupted science and data," he said.

Let me put it simply. The earth has a heat budget. It receives heat from the sun and most is radiated back into space. Some remains trapped in the oceans, the land surface and the atmosphere. There is (or was) a kind of equilibrium.

The amount of heat radiated back into space depends upon the composition of the atmosphere. In particular, CO2 absorbs long wavelength inhibiting the radiation of heat back into space. Increase the amount CO2 and other GHGs in the atmosphere and the balance is upset and more heat is retained in the atmosphere heating the surface and more slowly the oceans.

This is basic physics that has been known for more than a century

lol, not so simple....This would be a tad more accurate if the energy/heat that was received from the sun was constant and if the earth was motionless. It changes with distance and sun activity, sunspots etc...

Furthermore, 15 million years ago carbon dioxide levels on Earth were as high as they are today according to a UCLA scientists... This shows that co2 changes can be a natural phenomenon.

The only constant is that our atmosphere keeps changing, there are just too many variables involved for us to truly understand and model... and IMO, to subject us to things like cap and tax because of an unproven theory that Gore and his like are pushing is crazy.... It's obvious their is a big agenda behind this man made crises... It is no longer science, they have turned into politics...

The Truth About Global Warming
What you don’t hear in the media!

"The debate is still raging within the scientific community. Sovereignty International has put together interviews of climate scientists and biologists from numerous sources who explain, step by step, why Al Gore and the global warming alarmists are incorrect. It also provides evidence that the global warming agenda is being funded with tens of billions of dollars as a mechanism to create global governance.

Hear from congressmen, experts and even well-known news broadcasters as they discuss how global governance puts global institutions that are not accountable to the American people in control of every aspect of our economy. The U.S. government is very close to making this a reality. Very close. Every American, every citizen of the world, needs to hear the other side of the global warming story."

This is a minority interest thread about something that is going to have a major impact on every one of us financially and politically. If we are not informed or don't care, what chance have main street?

Gibbs: 'No dispute' on global warming
Dismisses 31,000 scientists who signed petition challenging 'consensus'

White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs today brushed aside the concerns of more than 31,000 scientists who have signed a petition challenging the theory of man-made global warming...

Well 31,486 scientists, including over 9,029 with doctorates subscribe to the following statement:

"There is no convincing scientific evidence that human release of carbon dioxide, methane, or other greenhouse gases is causing or will, in the foreseeable future, cause catastrophic heating of the Earth's atmosphere and disruption of the Earth's climate. Moreover, there is substantial scientific evidence that increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide produce many beneficial effects upon the natural plant and animal environments of the Earth."

Prostitutes Offer Free Climate Summit Sex

http://www.spiegel.de/international/zeitgeist/0,1518,665182,00.html

(OP: I've heard of free trials but this is ridiculous...)

Copenhagen's city council in conjunction with Lord Mayor Ritt Bjerregaard sent postcards out to 160 Copenhagen hotels urging COP15 guests and delegates to 'Be sustainable - don't buy sex'...

...Now, Copenhagen prostitutes are up in arms, saying that the council has no business meddling in their affairs. They have now offered free sex to anyone who can produce one of the offending postcards and their COP15 identity card

Thats because in the 70's the science community was telling us we need to worry about the next ice age and what was it in the 80's, acid rain.

lol, I remember that....
