How many people have died so far in the trucker protests? How many buildings were lit on fire or vandalized? How many people were shot or stabbed? If a trucker started lighting stuff on fire, I suspect others would step in to stop that. Unlike night after night in Portland and other cities, you had the bad / violent part of the movement run wild and unsuppressed by the "peaceful" part of the movement. I'm not exaggerating that part. In Portland, you literally had violence and property destruction in the streets night after night the entire summer of 2020. Where were all those mostly peaceful protestors to stop the relatively supposedly small group of unpeaceful protestors?
Beyond the damage, what bugs me the most is the blatant hypocrisy of the media willing to condemn one group of people while looking the other way for another (far more violent) group based on their political ideology. You have the media trying to downplay the violence associated with the BLM movement and going out of their way to avoid showing the aftermath of looted and burned stores in NY and a year later trying to portray the trucker protest in the worst light possible. You had so many cases of serious crimes dropped by corrupt DAs during the summer of 2020 just because they wanted to support the cause (Andy Ngo documented many of them). You have GoFundMe attempt to steal around $10M worth of funds intended to buy fuel and supplies for the truckers and redirect that to their own personal causes. And while I even see the logic in not wanting to support that, what bugs me is that they are not consistent. They allowed "PDX Protest Bail Fund" to raise nearly $1.4M for people arrested and charged with crimes as well as fundraise for Antifa and other violent extremist (although all on the left) groups.
That said, I think the truckers are doing things the hard way and they need to be careful not to piss off too many people that might otherwise support their cause. For example, public support for BLM peaked right after Floyd, but now it's actually lower than it was before Floyd because people associate it with rioting, looting, and corruption (turns out that some of the communist-endorsing founders were not so communist after all, buying expensive mansions in white neighborhood and the organization is now being investigated for tax fraud,

Most of society can go without seeing a nurse or doctor for years. But shut off the food and fuel and chaos would erupt in less than a week.
