Get it in your head. That region is very different culture from ours. We much closer to Russians (believe it or not) than middle east population. If it was not for Israel, they would be slicing each other throats.

To be clear I have nothing against Jewish people. I think the support of Israel has more to do with “culture” than it does with geopolitical benefits.

I am not saying your comments are anti-semitic, I am saying they are not necessailry correct based on political and military history. People want to say we support Israel because Jews influence politics. But putting that aside for a moment, we only have one ally and center of intelligence in the area and that is Israel. Although Jordan is neutral they don't assist us really. Also Israel shares common enemies such as Iraq and Iran and terrorists that were camped in Lebanon and Syria.

There is no religious benefit to having Israel strong and armed to the teeth. However it should be noted that Israel is a holy site for all 3 main religions and all 3 have shown an interest in keeping the area peaceful and a secular state. Israel v. Palestinians is not about religion 100% as it is about territory and 2 clans who are different fighting over the same claim to the space.

Israel is not trying to get rid of all muslims in the area, just secure the country which counts many Christians and Muslims as citizens. The PLO wants Israelis wiped off the face of the earth and publicly said so. they don't just target Jewish Israelis, they will blow up anything that has Israelis inside.

So if we threw our support behind Iran and Syria they would be our long lost friends? Iraq has been a dictatorship shit hole, Iran supports terrorist actions all around the world, Syria as well. Lebanon is an ally but their leadership has so many internal battles with terrorists and civil wars they really don't serve a purpose. Saudi is an ally but only because we buy oil. they are a bunch of wealthy sheiks who only care about money and oil and have no power in the region at all. Egypt has been a shit show since Saddat was killed and not an ally we could rely on in the region..

If we did not support Israel then in 1967 and 1973 Israel would have been invaded and wiped off the map. Let's not forget 3 countries attacked and tried to invade Israel at the same time. These are the peace loving neighbors we should throw our weight behind? Those two wars were fought basically because neighbors wanted to take over Israel and the surrounding lands.

There is no other developed country in the Middle East with all due respect. They are either handed wealth due to natural resources or are run by dictators and live in primitive conditions. Iraq is still involved in tribal warfare in parts of the North. Iran..well. Syria? Lebanon? Emirates...bunch of wealthy boys flashing toys with no power in the region.

I haven't said one thing about religion. Clearly it's not a religious issue, since Jews are certainly not looking to convert anyone. In fact, they make it very hard, unlike Christians and Muslims who make it as easy as possible. If the major news and entertainment outlets were all owned and run by Mormons or Southern Baptists and they all pushed an agenda, you'd be pointing it out.

It's doubly ironic since Jews have a history of complaining about being excluded from everything from country clubs to professions because of their religion. Now the shoe seems to be on the other foot.
