Old School - Charting Paper and Steel Rule / Technical Analysis

I recall when starting out (early 1980's) drawing a chart by hand, I didn't own any computer charting stuff back then. Was living in NZ.
I bought this company's stock (Nautronixs or something....?) and my broker JB Were advised I should sell and take profits.
I remember thinking why sell, the chart price I was following and drawing looked ok.
After some mulling sold with a small profit because my thinking was he knows something I don't know.
After I sold it turned into a multiple banger, something like 5x.
That was my introduction into becoming sceptical of brokers.
