Trafigura's head of oil trading called for a carbon levy on shipping fuel to make zero and low carbon fuels more economically viable. Its in the FT but they sometimes paywall content. There's a non-paywalled copy on their blog. Trafigura also have a full proposal for the IMO to introduce a decarbonisation programme.
Are they just trying to get ahead of eventual regulation that's coming anyway or does this have teeth? If so are there any low carbon fuel firms that might benefit from this?
