Oh crap, what now?

GoBack got it sorted, thank you all.

Maybe NOW is a good time to get your system backed up properly? You WILL need it in the future, you know.

Isn't GoBack just Symmantec's version of System Restore?

It saves a whole lot of times where you can restore to. Quite often I need to go back several time increments to get a good start.

Maybe I'll recommend it to my buddy Richard. He claims System Restore has many times saved his system from all the stuff he catches at porn sites. Maybe GoBack will be even better. :D

Yes it is, but unlike system restore it's accessed at start-up, Dos or something? System restore wasn't functioning at the time

Add to the online backup list: www.mozy.com

Whether you get it back up or not, for the future consider:

1. Norton Ghost or a similar imaging program (Acronis Truebackup, etc).
2. Online backups : http://www.systemrecovery.com/
3. http://www.apple.com

You can run the new Macs in Windows mode if you really need PC specific trading tools, and you'll know you can always boot into the more stable OSX of windows goes down. Alternatively it might be worth keeping a cheap Mac Mini or iBook as a standby for broker access.

Personally, I really wouldn't trust windows for mission critical stuff like trading. A down day from me would be disasterous.
