Official DD thread - Big Dow

there is no conspiracy, and i am markedly bullish

my point is that there are certain things that go along with market tops

jp morgan said that when an elevator operator was talking about makin' a killing, that's what got him out before the 29 crash

i am exceptionally bullish

but my eyes are open
 
i am extremely bullish and extremely bearish and extremely sideways whenever my system says to be with 1 little simple signal...........maybe 2.......or possibly 3........or is it true?.........all have gone overboard.........where are they now?.......YM is fine......just not easy to master........i love the 5 dollar pts.......all i can afford.........for now........wonderful trading to all........ :confused:
 
I do not think the demand is there to support more than one type of contract. Those who wanna trade big money in futures use the spoos or es.
 
right on vol, just because smart people make the decisions doesn't mean a smart decision ............YM is cheap on e and es is costly one.......suit ur fancy...........Nq is not enough there for me to depend on........range is low.........

the YM is a different contract. ES and YM are different animals. personally, i detest ES and love YM so at least n=1 there is a difference

DD will attract volume. but it will take time. heck, YM wasn't exactly gangbusters it's first month either. check it out

the fungibility is nice.

You missed the point. The dow does have the volume demand to have 3 different contracts for it. Try to do size in Ym and watch what happens on slippage.

From my prior post; the floor traded $10 Dow with 5,000 vol per day and over 35,000 OI has to be eliminated to get decent vol in the DD. The presence of the $10 hurts the DD.
 
YM is primarily a "retail" contract. Virtually no funds or managers are bogied to the performance of the DJIA. In other words, to the institutions who ultimately drive volume, the Dow is a non-story. YM has achieved a nice niche with small-medium sized day traders, a few spreaders and programs who'll facilitate trade out of fair value. That's it though.
