That was tough to watch....but we rightfully prevailed...

Talent is there undoubtedly and the fact the team was able to come back from being down 2-0 in the previous game and remained completely committed and focused in today's game says a bunch about the psychological strength of the team as a whole.

Gladly, I am happy to have to take back my previous statement on Donovan. I really hope he keeps playing the way he is doing.

I don't know much about soccer but the guys were really buzzing the net. Lot's of opportunities, it really seems like the refs have it out for us, which makes winning that much sweeter. The guy with the bust lip played a nice game and another dude was passing great... As a novice watcher over the years I've come to anticipate the fake injury and pratfall and now see it as an important part of the game. Had Algeria not had to win themselves though USA would of been in a pickle, Algeria would of played more defensive and the goalie was good-- that's the problem with the game.

In general there seem to be less strikers and more defensive guys on all the teams and I always thought there was some form of shoot out. I guess not on the world cup level. Roony from GB was the best I've seen on a club level yet he stunk on the big stage. I haven't really latched on to any offensive player-- so why not Landon D? he hustles. What ever happened to the 18 year old phenom that was in SI? He had a name like Abadu Alu or something? ~ stoney

shoot outs are only at the knockout stage not the group
 
It’s a karma thing…Rossi single handily won 82 WC for Italy and then coach didn’t played him even for a minute in 86. Lippi did the same and left Totti , Grosso and Matazeri out of the team…didn’t they scored ALL goals for Italy in semi’s and final of 06 ?
 
I really like everything Italian, but this team deserved what they got..

Disqualified in the first round for the first time since 1974. Finishing bottom of their group! Total disaster. Who could have imagined.
