If Cuba could get rid of its Communist government, Americans could travel freely there... + trading openly with the US would just have to boost their economy and living standards, wouldn't it? Seems they would be racing along in short order.
Cuba has an authoritarian government and communist economy. The communism isn't the problem, we're free to travel to a lot of countries with communist economies. Well, socialist economies, anyway.
Edit: though admittedly it WAS about communism in the early days of the embargo. Those were the days when the whole world (aiiieeeee!) was going to fall, domino style, to communism.
